Modesto Sukiyaki - (209) 526-3494

I have been eating at Modesto Sukiyaki since 1990 and they have never disappointed me. The food is delicious. I would recommend it to anyone.

My daughter and I went there for lunch today. The atmosphere and decor were very nice as were the staff. The miso soup was some of the best I have ever had. I ordered shrimp tempura which was OK but the waitress forgot to bring my dipping sauce. My daughter ordered the Sesame Chicken and it was so salty that she couldn't eat it and had to send it back. Not something she makes a practice of. I found it extremely salty, too. I really wanted to like this place and will be glad to give it another try.

They are only open for lunch and dinner. This restaurant offers excellent food and the presentation of the food is wonderful. It is a little hole in the wall restaurant. But the food is prepared fantastic. I think it is family owned and run because they treat you like family while you are there. Make sure to try the fried shrimp sushi - excellent. You can also try Oragami (Japanese paper folding) while you wait. The servers will help you if you can't figure it out! The lunches are very inexpensive especially based on the amount and quality of food. You won't be disappointed.
